Exhibition of early photographs of Beijing (1870-1890)

A collection of early photographs of Beijing is exposed in London, as part as the Asian Art in London, held from 5 to 14 November 2015. Those photographs were captured by Thomas Child between 1870 and 1890. About 30 pictures portray the city, its people and its main monuments.

In this exhibition are depicted the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, as well as Buddhist monks and newlyweds wearing traditional costumes.
