Air corridors in Beijing to blow away the smog

In order to tackle the issue of air pollution in Beijing, the municipal government will put in place new regulations to limit the density and height of new buildings in 6 zones identified as “air corridors”.

These regulations stem from a study on heat poles in urban environment that proved data on the incidence of density and the height of constructed structures on air circulation. The aim is therefore to amplify the natural process of air circulation from Beijing’s North-West in order to ease and speed up the dissipation of atmospheric pollution.
