Harbin Sound Map
In the context of the architecture and contemporary art biennial Westbund 2013, taking place in Shanghai from October 20 to December 15, 2013, the Chinese artist Zhang Liping presented a sound map of the city of Harbin.
Designed to be interactive, the site relies on the contribution of residents to record sounds in different parts of the city. Visitors then have access to these audio recordings by clicking on markers indicating the place where the sounds were recorded. Recorded in streets, parks, universities, or close to metro stations, the sounds are accessible to web users via an online map of Harbin. Harbin Sound Map gathers 66 audio clips and for each of them, a brief explanation of the place, date and author of the recording.
