China’s first metro museum opens in Shanghai
At the beginning of November, Shanghai opened the first metro museum in China. The city’s transportation network, China’s largest, first transported passengers in 1993, almost 130 years after the exact date the world’s first line in London opened its doors.
The museum is located next to line 10, showcases the chronology of this public mode of transportation in the world and in China and presents its impact on the daily life of Shanghai’s inhabitants. It also explains in a playful and interactive fashion the technical functioning of the system while displaying the future development of the network, which is expected to become the world’s largest and most frequently used network.
