A photographic approach to Chinese urbanization
Visible until June 30 at the San Jose Museum of Art (California), the exhibition Rising Dragon: Contemporary Chinese Photography presents the work of 36 contemporary Chinese photographers who seek to show the changes that China has experienced over the last twelve years (2000 – 2012).
There is a special focus on such themes as urbanisation and environmental degradation, thanks to artists like Weng Fen, who questions the Chinese dream with the series Sitting on the Wall, or Zhou Hai, who, with the series The Unbearable Heaviness of Industry, chose black and white to document the daily lives of workers in China’s heavy industry.
